When installing Logitech Harmony Remote Software on macOS 10.15 Catalina, you may be prompted with a couple of messages asking for your permission to allow the Logitech Harmony software to work with your computer.
Software Extension
Logitech Harmony Remote Software for macOS 10.15+ requires a system software extension from “Logitech Inc.” to be enabled. If this is not allowed, the Harmony software will not be able to connect and communicate with your Harmony remote.
Logitech Harmony Remote Software may stall detecting your remote while setting up your account, or when you are trying to update your remote. This driver is required for the Harmony 900, 1000, and 1100 remotes.
To enable this extension:
- Go to your System Preferences by clicking the apple on the top left of your screen.
- Click on Security and Privacy
- Click on the General tab
- On the bottom, click on the authentication lock icon to make changes. Enter your password when prompted.
- You will see a message stating “System software from developer “Logitech Inc. ” was blocked from loading. Click on Allow.
- If your Mac recommends rebooting your computer, please do so.

It is not necessary to grant access. Harmony Remote Software uses the JavaFX engine, and one of the features of the engine is to receive keystrokes. We do not use this particular feature.
