Poor image quality

There are two scenarios when streaming video over the internet:

• Sending/Transmitting. This is when your chat partner is seeing the video you're sending.
• Receiving. This is when you're seeing the video your chat partner is sending to you.

Sending or transmitting video:

If your chat partner claims your video image doesn't look good:

• Make sure you have a good upload internet connection with at least a 500 Kbps transfer rate. To transmit HD video over the internet, you need a minimum 1.2 Mbps transfer rate.
• Avoid using a wireless connection from your TV to your router. There's a good chance the signal strength may actually be weaker, even if you have the capabilities of sending video over the internet at 1.2 Mbps.
• Check your current actual upload speed by visiting a site such as http://www.speedtest.net.

Receiving video:

If the image you're seeing on your TV is very poor, your chat partner's system may not meet these requirements for transmitting good video over the internet:

• 500Kbps minimum upload speed (or 1.2Mbps to send HD video over the internet)
• HD-capable camera
• Skype 5.1 or above
• Intel base Quad CPU 2.4 Ghz or above
