Reference: PC processing power requirements

We have designed WiLife™ Cameras to be very intelligent and to handle much of the video processing at the camera so as to not overtax your PC. Each camera is equipped with a 400MHz processor and a powerful image sensor. This allows use of Windows Media Video encoding and compression, motion detection, and image management within the camera. Having these operations performed in the camera makes it possible to display and record live video from six cameras on a standard PC.

If WiLife application is minimized or running in the background, the PC workload is generally very light. Note that viewing your live images requires more work from your PC, which is one of the primary factors driving the PC requirements.

Third party cameras will not connect or operate with WiLife's integrated Security System. Our solution uses control center software running on your PC, integrated network security protection and powerful WiLife Cameras.

Third party cameras like X-10's are not expected cause interference problems. WiLife uses a much higher bandwidth range for signal transmission over electrical wiring than X-10's.
