My Squeezebox Duet Controller returns ‘Problem Connecting’ error

If you receive a ‘Problem Connecting’ error while setting up your Squeezebox Duet, do the following:

• Verify that you entered the encryption key for your wireless network correctly. For information on using wireless encryption keys, please see Knowledge Base article 360023221314.

• Check to see if you have wireless MAC address filtering turned on. See your router documentation for instructions on adding MAC addresses and using MAC address filtering. If so,

  • Find the MAC addresses for both your Receiver and your Controller. The Controller MAC address is located inside the battery compartment; the Receiver MAC address is located on the bottom of the Receiver.

  • Add the MAC addresses for your Controller and your Receiver to your router’s list of allowed MAC addresses.

• If you have multiple routers (such as a wired router and a wireless router), you may be connecting to the wrong network. Check your router documentation for instructions on using multiple routers in tandem.

• Your wireless connection may be experiencing problems. Consult your router documentation or contact your Internet provider (AT&T, Comcast, etc).

• Your computer has a built-in firewall, and you may also have other firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm, TrendMicro, etc. For instructions on configuring your firewall for use with your Duet, please see Knowledge Base article 360023221314.

Additional Information

• Your router has a feature called DHCP, which means that your router gives network addresses to your wireless devices. To resolve this, do the following:

  1. Turn off your router and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  2. Turn your router back on and wait for another 60 seconds.

  3. Try again to set up your Duet.

• If you cannot connect to SqueezeNetwork, it is possible that you may have a DNS problem, which means that your network addresses are not working correctly. To resolve this, try the following:

  1. Turn off your router and wait for at least 60 seconds.

  2. Turn your router back on and wait for another 60 seconds.

  3. Try again to connect to SqueezeNetwork.

  If none of the above resolve the problem, contact your router manufacturer.
