Using Power over Ethernet (PoE) for Logitech Alert security cameras

Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a way to power devices using standard Ethernet cables. It can be used with all Logitech Alert security cameras as an alternative to using a HomePlug network.

In order to run Logitech Alert cameras using PoE as your power solution, you need to connect an Ethernet cable from each of your cameras to the Ethernet ports available on your switch, router or power injectors. Power is provided to your Ethernet network using power sourcing equipment (PSE) such as routers, switches, or power injectors (also known as midspan devices).

Power injectors and other midspan devices are placed between legacy switches or routers and powered devices such as Logitech Alert cameras to provide PoE. A PoE router or switch provides power directly to your network.

NOTE: There are many different power injectors and midspan devices available. PoE compatibility, standards and functionality vary from device to device. Most, but not all, will power Logitech Alert cameras.

Logitech cameras work with PoE 48V IEEE IEEE 802.3af-2003 and PoE+ 458V IEEE 802.3at-2009 high power mode standard switch.
