Reference: Video Storage Management

Storage Requirements:
Your selections in the WiLife software and the amount of movement you are viewing will determine how much disk space is used. WiLife application is designed to intelligently record motion events, reducing the space necessary to maintain an archive. The following table contains the standard modes together with the space required for each:

Recording Mode	Storage Requirements (per day)
Continuous Mode	3.2 GB
Selective Capture	6.4 MB

NOTE: The above table assumes using the cameras in default QVGA mode. In continuous recording mode, each camera - using the default QVGA settings - requires about 2.2MB per minute.

Most users prefer to use the motion detection feature to selectively capture significant events. Motion detection mode requires approximately 10- 20 % of  the storage used in a continuous mode.

In a typical single camera system using motion detection between 3 and 6 GB of disk space is needed. This depends, of course, on how much motion your cameras are seeing. You may wish to allocate more space if you have lots of motion, or if you wish to retain your video for a longer period before the disk space is recycled for new video.

Disk Storage Quota:
You can use the WiLife application to manage your storage.,To manage storage, please do the following:

1. Go to Setup > Recording > View Disk Usage panel.
2. Select how much disk space you are willing to let it use for storing your recorded video files.

When this quota is full, the WiLife application will start recycling your disk space by deleting the oldest video file(s) to make room for the new ones being created.

Cutoff Date For Discarding Video
To see the date used for discarding videao, please do the following:

1. Open the WiLife application.
2. Go to > Setup > Recording > View Disk Usage panel.

The date which Werks is currently using to discard the oldest files is shown in the "Discarding From" field. 
NOTE: The WiLife application will not discard any protected files, regardless of their date.

Protecting Video Clips
If you want to prevent a video clip from getting deleted as space is being recycled, you can protect that video clip. This is done by the following instructions:

1. Go into Search mode.
2. Right-click on the video image or right-clicking on the green segment associated with the video image.
3. Select the Protect option. You can use the same technique to unprotect a clip, by selecting the Unprotect option.
