If you purchase multiple Logitech products using the new Unifying USB receiver, you do not need to plug the additional receiver(s) into your computer. Instead, you can connect your new product to your existing Unifying USB receiver as explained in Knowledge Base article 360023388813 and store your additional Unifying USB receiver for emergency use.
Your M505 has a storage compartment under the battery cover. You can store an extra Unifying USB receiver in this storage compartment as shown below:
